Jude gave up her career in education in order to deal with Micah's disabilities. While she and Ron divorced it was not because of Micah. Their commitment to his well being has kept them close for many years. Micah needs constant care and Jude is handling that role now as both she and Ron have done over Micah's lifetime. |

Brenda Wright - Early caregiver Brenda became a caregiver for Micah when he was five years old. She accompanied him to school for four years making life easier on his parents and teachers. She ensured that Micah had fun with all his friends. Her experience working with Micah caused her to alter her career path and become a physical therapist. |
Ben Cousland - Early & Current Caregiver Ben has been a caregiver for Micah both as a child and now as an adult. He currently takes care of Micah along with Micah's mother Jude. His lifelong commitment to Micah is an indication of the presents that Micah has brought him. Ben speaks of learning life's true values through his relationship with Micah. |
Yvonne Meyer - Preschool Teacher
Yvonne is an experiential preschool teacher who speaks about how she became a better observer because of her experiences with Micah. She has applied her learning experience with Micah to many years of teaching. Her experiences with Micah also taught her, "There's no human being who's not able to do anything." |
Jim Heaney - Preschool Teacher Jim partnered with Yvonne in Micah's preschool education. He talks about his experience with his assisting Micah in climbing a tree and how by giving his support, Micah could feel as if he were climbing the tree himself. He talks about the importance of keeping quiet so that "he won't miss a clue from Micah." |
Bill Spencer - Elementary School Teacher
Bill worked with Brenda in Micah's 2nd grade classroom. Working with her as an assistant made life easer for the teachers and to make Micah's education possible. He felt Micah was just another kid in the classroom. He talks about how he learned patience and compassion from Micah. |
Mark Sparn - Elementary School Principal As principle of Flatirons Elementary School, Mark oversaw an inclusion experiment for kids with disabilities and how successful it became. They wanted this experience to be used as a model. Through special education staffing he believes we become much better person centered educators. |
Vicki Bordinger - Middle School Teacher As Micah's fifth grade teacher, Vicki talks of how it was a huge impact for her, about how she was learning along side Micah. She says learned to make sure that every child was accepted in her classroom. She worked along side Maria, Micah's teacher aide, in making certain that Micah was able to participate. |
Maria Correa - Teacher Aide Maria talks about how Micah changed her mind about people with disabilities. By working with him she learned that even though Micah is disabled, he is aware of everything that's going on around him. She learned to how to talk to him with her broken English and his mispronounced words. |
Beth Keith - Physical Therapist
Beth met Micah right after he had hip surgery as she was brought on to do therapy. Given his disabilities, Micah was a new challenge for her and she learned many new therapies because of Micah and his family's involvement. She speaks extensively about the reciprocal benefits she received from being Micah's therapist. |
Maureen Keyes - Step Mother Micah's step-mother was amazed about her son Matthew and Micah interacted when Micah came to live with them. She never expected the level of care he would give to Micah. She talks about her getting Micah involved in sporting events at the university where she taught and benefits for both him and the community. |
Matthew Schotting - Step Brother Micah's Step-brother talks about his being Micah's caregiver. He doesn't think it's a big deal to take care of Micah. They did what people their age do, go to the bars and be one of the regular folk. He talks about even though Micah has disabilities it doesn't get in the way of him enjoying life. |

He was told that what he said was powerful, about how "learning the daily aspect of compassionate care & getting in touch with that loving kindness, that heart that is in all of us brings purpose and meaning into life." |
